Windows Systems

Installing VirtCentral Enterprise on a Windows Server environment is a straightforward process thanks to the standalone installer and the included graphical Service Manager.

1. Running the Setup

  1. Download the Installer: Obtain the latest Setup_VC_x64.exe installer file from your customer portal or license email.
  2. Execute the Setup: Double-click Setup_VC_x64.exe to start the installation wizard.
  3. Follow the Wizard: The installer is pre-configured and requires no special configuration during the setup process. Simply click through the standard prompts.
    • Note: If your system is missing the necessary Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables, the installer will automatically detect and install them for you.

2. The VirtCentral Service Manager

VirtCentral runs natively as a background Windows Service. This ensures that the appliance automatically starts when the server boots and runs securely in the background without requiring an active user session.

To manage this service, the installation includes a lightweight GUI wrapper called the VirtCentral Service Manager.

  1. Open the Start Menu and search for VirtCentral Service Manager, or launch it directly from the desktop shortcut created during installation.
  2. The Service Manager provides a simple interface with four main controls:
    • Install Service
    • Uninstall Service
    • Start Service
    • Stop Service

3. Registering and Starting the Appliance

To complete the installation and bring VirtCentral online:

  1. Install the Service: Click the Install Service button in the Service Manager. This registers VirtCentral with the Windows Service Control Manager.
  2. Start the Appliance: Once the service is successfully installed, click the Start Service button.
  3. Verify: The Service Manager should now display the status as Running.

4. Next Steps

Your VirtCentral appliance is now running natively on Windows!

You can now open a modern web browser on any machine within the same network and navigate to the VirtCentral IP address or FQDN via HTTPS (e.g., https://<your-windows-server-ip>) to access the initial Setup Wizard.
